You can see that the top line of the globes are missing. PNG should support transparency, so I’m not sure what’s going wrong. I placed it as an image on an object that was colored black which showed through the decal for the desire effect. The top one is after clicking the magic wand but before hitting ctrl + D. In my case, I prepared a decal in Photoshop by extracting the background color (black) from the image, which made that part transparent. I used Photoshop here since it is the most widely used image editing program. These are my results when trying to make the background transparent. A further knowledge of a image editing application is also essential. To be able to follow this tutorial you need to have some basic understanding of a rendering application of your choice and exporting and applying materials. Although sketchup is known for its intuitiveness, creating transparent PNGs from the software can be a bit tricky. ![]() Should there be more line or less brush it is all a matter of individual preferences, and you can of course experiment yourself to achieve the best desired effect. For some time now I have been experimenting on various techniques with the aim of producing high quality professional render outputs, yet one with a subtle brush and line work touch, that resembles the natural effect of SketchUp. A Adode photo image has transparent background when saved as a PNG. I have received some positive feedback and e-mails from people asking me how this is done.
